Listen to the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast

Greetings

Yesterday, I turned on the new album by The Here & Now. The band features Chris Buckley and Niamh on fiddle, Rob Forkner on bodhran, and Joseph Carmichael on guitar. I don't usually listen to albums all the way through. I listen to singles usually. But I'm a huge fan of Chris Buckley's work. I've followed him from Cluan to probably 15 years of The Tea Merchants. He even recorded on my cat CD Whiskers in the Jar.

This is not you typical traditional Irish fiddle album. It's more like The Tea Merchants with songs mixed in. These are contemporary arrangements of trad tunes that will get your toes tapping. In fact, it's like a breath of fresh fall morning air. I know it's not actually fall yet, but the air...

I love this time of year as the temperature drops. My own "Little Monster" is back in school. Inara and I are going to the botanical gardens this morn. On the way, we'll be listening to "Celtic in Connemara", the newest episode of the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast.

Listen and enjoy some great Celtic music from Poitin, The Here & Now, Bard & Company, Eilis Crean, The Jeremiahs, Cady Finlayson, Irish Whispa, Ciana, AmeriCeltic Band, Forkroot, Tim Edey, Sliotar, The Muckers, Screaming Orphans.

Read the shownotes.

A special thanks to this week's sponsor, How Do You Write with Rachael Herron. I've been listening to this podcast for a while, even though I'm not much of a writer, outside of songwriting. It's kind of inspiring to hear where writers get their inspiration. Check it out.

Once again, I am attempting to learn Gaelic. Once again, I'm learning with Duolingo, a free app which I've used before and loved. But I wasn't consistent before. I'm trying my best to spend a good 5-10 minutes daily with their short lessons. So far it's working great. I feel like I'm starting to understand some of the basics of this intimidating language.

One of the neat, new things in the app is the "Club" feature. I and up to 15 friends can learn Gaelic together. There doesn't seem to be any social interaction. But you can see the progress of other club members. If you'd like to join my club, use this code: QJPN28.

One caveat. My goal is to do this daily. And I want you to do the same. So if you aren't practicing every day, I might need to kick you off to let someone else in who will. Go download the app on your phone and let's learn Gaelic together!

Finally, I just released a new podcast on Celtfather Music & Travel. It features a short interview followed by nearly an hour of live music from his concert with us on the Celtic Invasion of Brittany. Dom Duff was a blast. Don't miss Music of Brittany with Dom Duff now!

Thanks as always for supporting the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. I love how the Celts come together and take care of our community. And not just ours, those outside of it as well. There are so many people who have suffered hardships like the Celts. It's good to know that our community is kind and giving to all those who are less fortunate. Thank you for being you. Slainte!
