Earth Day Celebration

Saturday is Earth Day, a day for showing support for environmental protection. Did you know there used to be a lot more trees in Ireland than you find today. They were cut down to build ships, cathedrals, furniture, barrels, and just cleared for farming. Yet, trees were an important part of Celtic culture. I feel it is our duty to protect our land for future generations.

That's why I choose to celebrate Earth Day and Ireland's 40 shades of green with awesome Celtic music from Hearthfire Duo, Kennedy's Kitchen, Jed Marum with Hugh Morrison and Mason Brown, Old Blind Dogs, Smithfield Fair, Julia Lane, The Borrowed Angels, Mazz O'Flaherty, Harpnotic, Bow Triplets, Slan, String Theory, Barrowburn, Pipedance, Arthur Hinds, Sea Star, Sliotar. Read the shownotes to find out more about these bands.

Then go vote for your favorites in the Celtic Top 20!

One quick note. I launched a new Kickstarter for an album of music inspired by Joss Whedon's TV show, Firefly. I know. This is not an overly Celtic project. It's got some folk, some blues, and who knows what else. But there will be some fun, original pub songs that some of you might be interested. Make a pledge here.

Enjoy this week's show. Slainte!
